Opening Membership to all VA Queer-Serving Orgs

Greetings friends, 

I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your courage, advocacy, and responsiveness to the attacks against queer rights here in our beloved Commonwealth over the last several months. This is proving to be a challenging time and I can't imagine we will be done with this before November, at least. This highlights the need for our continued cooperation.

I am writing today on behalf of the Virginia Queer Coalition, an effort started by leaders within LGBTQ+ organizations in Northern Virginia in 2023 to coordinate, centralize, and become more connected. We would like to invite you to join our next meeting on September 9th at 7 p.m. Information on joining the meeting will be sent to you in a separate email, momentarily. Please note, you do not need a Google account to access this meeting. Please email me if you encounter any issues.

Our goal is to establish a centralized roster and recurring meeting of the LGBTQ+ serving organizations in Virginia to better share what works in our collective advocacy, connect our communities with other organizations, centralize resources, create an online portal of events, and coordinate actions and messaging where our voices can be stronger, together. For the last year, we've focused primarily on developing resources and processes among our founding orgs. Now we are at a point where it is imperative that more be done to connect more of us.
